Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 October 2026
broadbands.co.in is a fibre-monitoring platform for local broadband operators (LCOs). This notice explains what personal data we handle, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can exercise your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025.
1. Our two roles
- Operators and their staff, and visitors to this site: we decide why and how this data is used, so we are the Data Fiduciary.
- Broadband subscribers of an operator (names, phone numbers, addresses, equipment and signal data): the operator decides why this data is processed and is the Data Fiduciary. We process it only on the operator's instructions, as their Data Processor. Subscribers should contact their operator first; we will help the operator answer.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | Whose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, phone number or email, password (stored only as a one-way hash) | Operators and staff | To create the account and sign you in |
| Sign-in records: time, IP address, browser, device type; pages opened and changes made | Operators and staff | Security, preventing misuse, and showing operators who did what |
| Phone push subscription; WhatsApp number an operator links for alerts | Operators and staff | Sending fibre-cut and fault alerts |
| Name, phone, email, company, area and message from the demo form; IP address | Site visitors | Replying to your enquiry |
| Page visits: time, page, IP address, browser, referring site | Site visitors | Counting visits and blocking abuse |
| Customer name, mobile, login name, address, plan and expiry; landline number; equipment MAC/serial; optical signal readings and online/offline history; map locations; complaint tickets | Operators' subscribers | Monitoring the operator's fibre network and finding faults, on the operator's instructions |
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use subscriber data for advertising or for any purpose the operator has not asked for.
3. Where it is stored
On servers in India (Amazon Web Services, Mumbai region), in a PostgreSQL database. Device passwords are encrypted. Nightly backups are kept for 14 days. All traffic to the platform uses HTTPS.
4. Who we share it with
Only the services needed to run the platform, and only the data each needs:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting.
- WhatsApp — alert messages sent through the operator's own linked number.
- Browser push services (Google, Apple, Mozilla) — delivering phone alerts.
- OfferCity — complaint tickets, for operators who use it.
- The operator's own billing/RADIUS panel — we sign in, on the operator's instruction, to read their customer list.
- OpenStreetMap and satellite map imagery providers — map and street data; only map areas are requested, not personal data.
- An AI assistant provider — an optional feature, currently switched off. If an operator enables it, network fault details may be sent to it.
We also disclose data where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Account and network data are kept while the operator uses the service. When an operator leaves, their data and their subscribers' data are deleted within 30 days, a record of the deletion is kept, and remaining copies expire with the 14-day backups. Demo enquiries are kept until the enquiry is closed, and for at most 12 months.
6. Your rights
You may ask to access a summary of your personal data, correct or update it, have it erased, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and nominate someone to act for you. Write to the grievance contact below. Subscribers of an operator should write to their operator; we act on the operator's request.
7. Children
This service is for broadband businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children's data.
8. Security and breaches
We use HTTPS, encrypted stored credentials, role-based access, and logs of who signs in and what changes. If a personal data breach occurs, we will inform the affected people and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires, and operators whose subscribers are affected.
9. Grievances
Grievance contact: support@broadbands.co.in. We will respond within 90 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and show the new date at the top.
